The Pasadena we all seek is a safe, beautiful and prosperous city. The challenge is how to achieve this goal in uncertain times, while maintaining the appropriate balance between business and our neighborhoods.

As your representative, I will face that challenge head on and work hard to enhance the quality of life in District 7 and throughout our wonderful city.

I have lived in Pasadena for 28 years with my husband, Lance Ito. We have three grown children and eight grandchildren. We are members of Lake Avenue Church.

My family and I are long time supporters of the Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena POPS, Pasadena Educational Foundation, Lake Avenue Community Foundation, Pasadena Humane Society, Pasadena Police Athletic League, Pasadena Museum of History, KPCC, La Salle High School, and St. Philip the Apostle School.

We support the economy in Pasadena. This is where we buy our cars, do our shopping and enjoy Pasadena’s entertainment venues.

I have served for 40 years as a police officer, most recently as Chief of Los Angeles County Police where I oversaw an annual budget of $112 million and led a force of over 600 employees. I have years of experience working with the community, professional relationships to help reach solutions, and a proven record of leadership in public service.

This is my list of specific priorities:

Quality of Life

  • We must have a safe and secure city.
  • We must address the environmental concerns of the city including our energy needs.
  • We need a comprehensive traffic plan that increases flow and reduces congestion.
  • We need to maintain the unique beauty and livability of our city, including addressing issues concerning development, open space, preservation, and trees.
Economic Viability
  • I will deal head-on with the effects of the economic downturn on city services and programs.
  • I have the discipline to make fiscally responsible decisions regarding the city’s current and future economic status.
  • I will work to maintain a vibrant business environment.
  • I will actively promote Pasadena as a world -class destination
Governance
  • I believe in transparency in government. This is your government, and you are entitled to be fully informed.
  • I believe in accountability in government. Elected officials have an obligation to their constituencies to ensure that city departments are run effectively and efficiently and that taxpayer dollars are well spent.
  • I believe that every child in Pasadena is entitled to the best educational opportunities possible.
  • I believe our children should be able to go to schools that are safe and clean.
I have received the following endorsements from people with whom I have worked because they believe in me, know of my tested ability to get the job done and of my demonstrated commitment to the community, both personally and professionally:

District Attorney Steve Cooley, members of the LA County Board of Supervisors including Michael Antonovich, Don Knabe, and Zev Yaroslavsky, Sheriff Lee Baca, Former District Attorney Robert Philibosian, the National Women’s Political Caucus and many friends and neighbors.

This is an important election. There will be a new councilmember representing Distirct 7. I would be honored by your vote and humbled by the opportunity to serve. Working together, we will have a safe, beautiful and prosperous Pasadena.
